| This school began in 1988 as a Montessori school for kindergarten through fifth grade. It was extraordinarily successful and eventually expanded to cover the preschool through high school years. The high school program began in 1998 and is today our most rapidly growing program.
Some of our students live too far away from the school to attend. For several years, we mailed materials back and forth so that these "distance learning" students could take advantage of our successful program. In 2004 we began putting our examinations online, so that students could take their assessments over the Internet when it was convenient for them to do so. Many of our students are highly motivated and appreciate the opportunity to take examinations more quickly than typical public high schools allow. They also appreciate the prompt feedback they get from having their examinations scored by computer and posted immediately. As we further develop our online presence, we have adopted the name LibertyLearningSM to identify our unique learning environment, which not only gives the student the greatest possible freedom to learn but also recognizes the central role of freedom in American culture.
